Providing beautiful, unforgettable holidays to tourists visiting the island who want to rent a boat
Summer 1995, I arrive and spent my first season in Ibiza. Supposed to be employed as a "hostess" aboard a yacht; I end up cleaning boats. A hard job- 7 days a week, 10 hours or more every day, to rub, scratch and polish in the heat!
I finish the season enriched from this new experience, all in fiber and golden like a Caribbean... but also on the kneecaps and with very little money in my pocket as I got slightly exploited. I promise myself that I will return one day to enjoy the pleasures of the Island.
I returned the following summer, but this time to work on my own, at the request of people I had the opportunity to meet the previous year.
Despite some complications, I quickly find my way with a satisfied and faithful clientele. The work was just as hard then the first year, but I started to appreciate more and more my new life: the atmosphere of the harbour, the tourists, the sun and the island itself. My income started to match finally, the energy and commitment I was putting in my work!
A famous Ibicenco saying states: "If Ibiza likes you, it will never let you go or it will totally rejects you." In my case, the magical island had just adopted me without my knowledge, and made every effort to ensure that, little by little, I come to settle down here permanently... I would say rather that, it provoked a succession of events in my life that will led me not leave the island.
3 or 4 years later, again thanks to the relational network weaved over time, I began to accumulate two jobs. On one hand cleaning boats allowed me to stay in shape, independent and above all to keep a direct contact with life on the marina. On the other hand, a new reception-secretarial position in a boat rental agency on the port of Botafoch allowed me to continue on my journey.
Events followed one another; often good, sometimes less, at times even catastrophic... but nevertheless, each of these events made me stronger and encouraged me to stay on this beautiful island. Thus, seven years after my first summer season to Ibiza, I finally start to be in my own agent/boss as AGENT BOAT RENTALS in Ibiza under the name Mar y Sun Yachting which would become not very long after, SOLANA YACHTING.
15 years has now passed since I am specialized in this business. Certainly, it’s a shark’s world, but the years have taught me to surround myself and to collaborate with honest and conscientious ship owners, with whom I share the same objective: "to provide beautiful, unforgettable holidays to tourists who come and want to rent a boat!"
1. LEGALITY & INSURANCE:
All boats rented by Solana Yachting are legalized for hire in Balearics and therefore arefully insured for this activity.
WARNING : Water activities such as skiing, diving, Donut, swimming, ... are not includedin these insurances.
2. RESERVATIONS:
Reservations are considered confirmed only after reception of 50% of the total amount of the rental. Within one month of embarking, 100% of the amount has to be paid (soldout).
3. MODE OF PAYMENT:
4. FUEL:
Usually the fuel is not included in the rental price (check on the description of the boat). 2 options possible regarding the payment of it:
a) We note the engine hours in the contract at the start and at the end of your cruise and calculate your consumption, based on the average consumption of the boat (L / h) and fuel rate of the day. Payment of this will be made in cash or by card before landing. Therefore, a security deposit will be required prior to charter.
b) In some cases, warning us the day before, we can try to filled-up tanks prior to your departure in order that you can refill the level at the gas station on your return. In this case, you must organize a return to port before 19h at (+/- 30 min wait at the station and +/- 30 min for filling). The gas station closes at 20pm.
5. LEASE WITH CAPTAIN or CREW:
This service is not always included in the rental price (you can check on thedescriptive of the boat if this fees is included or not). In case it is not, this payment is not always done through the agency. If so you will have to pay this fees in cash at the time of boarding directly to the captain.
Do not forget that the meal for the captain and/or the crew as to be provide by you during the entire cruise. Tipping is at your convenience.
6. RENT WITHOUT CAPTAIN:
You must ensure that you or a member of your crew have the knowledge and experience needed for the cruise and will need to have the license in hand the day of the charter.
In both cases, a member or our team might do a test with the designated skipper.I reserve me the right to refuse the use of the yacht in case you do not have the necessary skills to safely deal with the planned cruise. In this case, I can try getting a captain for the day at your expense (payable directly to the person concerned). If you disagree or I can’t find a captain for the day, the contract will be canceled by me (Solana Yachting) for non-competence of the client. The allpayment of the rent will be kept by Solana Yachting.
7. SCHEDULE:
For the day charter, boats are usually available from 10am. On request, sometime we can advance the time. In any case, not later than the day before your charter we will organize together your boarding time and verify the final details of your cruise (port of embarkation, restaurant, alcohol on board, weather forecast, ...).
You have to warn me if you think that you will be late to embark to attempt tore organize myself with other boarding.
Normally a day charter is maximum 8 hours from the boarding time.
As a boat & yacht charter company, it is also our duty to offer what we like to call "nautical concierge" services. They include any type of services our clients may want that are related to their charter needs (par example).

20 years on this magical island and I still completely love the work in which I get involved. I also really enjoy the people with whom I collaborate and most have become sincere friends.
I would first of all like to thank the people who have always totally, undeniably, unmistakably been positive in my life and allowed my ascension in Ibiza:
Organized by the most common categories, we have tried to provide as comprehensive a list as possible to answer whatever questions you may have. Don't hesitate to contact us if you don't find your answer here.
As soon as possible! In high season I recommend you to book several weeks in advance, or even months in advance in order to better your odds.
No, not necessarily. And be careful! According to period, a last minute rental may also be more expensive. However I propose special offers and last minute deals to my newsletter subscribers. If you are not registered yet, I invite you to join in to get this benefits (register)
Yes, however I recommend you to book at least 2 days prior to embarkation. In all cases I would do my best to find you "The" suitable boat for you depending on availability.
Yes, under the following 2 conditions:
- It must be specified in the descriptive of the yacht that it can be rented without captain;
- You or a member of your crew must possess the knowledge and the necessary experience to sail and present the original boat license on the rental day;
In order to promote passenger safety, International Marine regulation considers any boat carrying more than 12 passengers, even if used as a private yacht, to be a passenger ship.
That means the boat has to comply with different and very stringent restrictions. Meeting those restrictions comes at a price for boat owners which most choose to avoid.
Yes, the nominee to take the place of the captain must have the necessary knowledge and experience to sail and so our team reserves the right to proceed to a test at sea to verify the person is qualified or not to go without a professional skipper.
Yachts are generally ready from 10am. On request we can sometimes move forward the embarkation time.
Anyhow, at the latest the day before your rental, we will organize together your departure time and check together the last details of your day charter (port of embarkation, alcohol on board upon your arrival, restaurant, weather forecast, ...).
The maximum time normally allocated to a rental day is 8 hours from the time of boarding and with a return always before the nightfall (except special agreement).
In this case, you will be able to designate a more suitable person or I could try to find a captain for the day at your expense (payable directly to the person concerned).
If you refuse, or I do not find a Captain the contract will be cancelled for lack of competence of the captain designated by the customer. The sum collected for the rental will stay my property.
Of course, but depending on the size of the boat do not forget to notify us in order to try to organize the space in a coolbox or fridge.
Yes, of course. However if you rent the boat only for one day and depending on the size of the boat it may be more desirable to go to eat to the restaurant by the sea. Do not hesitate to ask me advice to find the most pleasant solution for you.
2 possibles options regarding the payment of the fuel you’ve been using during your boat rental:
a) We note the engine hours in the contract at the start and at the end of your cruise and calculate your consumption, based on the average consumption of the boat (L / h) and fuel rate of the day.
b) In some cases, if you warn us the day before, we can try to fill-up tanks prior to your departure in order that you can refill the level at the gas station on your return. In this case, you must organize a return to port before 7 p.m. at (+/- 30 min wait at the station and +/- 30 min for filling). The gas station closes at 20pm.
In order not to give my clients bad surprise, all my price lists are ALWAYS 21% VAT already INCLUDED.
This is not the case with most of my other congeners. They usually show they prices without VAT to make them more attractive… but the final price when you will have to pay will be with 21% VAT on the top
Other expenses such as captain, drinks, mooring, fuel, ... can vary from a boat to the other. I invite you to check it in the description of each boat.
All boats and yachts on www.SolanaYachting.com include the obligatory 21% VAT. This is not the case with many other charter agencies!
Fuel is generally not included in the rental price. You can check it on the description of the yacht in the section “included” and “not included fees”.
As a general rule, day boats charter over 7m are delivered with cool drinks (coca-cola, fanta, ice-tea,...), water and ice-cubes on board. You can check it on the descriptive of the yacht at the "included / not included" section
Alcohol is not included. On request we can buy these drinks for you, at your expenses.
A.P.A. stands for Advanced Provisioning Allowance and refers to expenses for which an allowance is paid in advance, typically for longer term rentals, such as fuel, food, port fees, etc...
At the end of your charter the captain will provide you with a detailed statement of all expenses and etiehr provide you with a refund or ask you to pay the difference should the expenses be greater than the allowance. It typically ranges from about 20% to 35% of total charter costs.
For the rentals with night on board: The rental of the boat serving as accommodation will not be refunded. I always advise my clients to take a cancellation insurance. I can direct you to one of them if you wish.
For the day rentals: Only a member of my team or myself, reserve the right to cancel the trip the very morning due to bad weather.
In this case, I will try to reschedule the rental for the next day or another day depending on the planning of the boat.
If, and only if no other day is available in the planning, then I will refund the amount already paid for the location, less 10% of the location for the file fees.
